My pet bit my charger cable and it doesn't work anymore.

The charger itself (attached to USB-USB-C adapter) is working fine, it's the USB adapter that's broken.

My question is, can I buy a new adapter cable and all the features will still work (e.g. the super charge, I have a huawei p20 pro, charges 0-100 really fast) or do I need to buy a completely new charger?

Regards

you can buy a fast-charging block off Amazon.

i bought this awhile ago because people at work love to steal chargers..

The problem is I'm leaving this country in a few days and won't be back for a few months so I need something that delivers fast (I checked local stores, they have generic USB-C to USB-A adapters, not sure if they support super charge?).

Other stores I found have older models e.g. for the huawei mate 9 or honor 9, and when I looked up specs, my phone has USB 3.1 - USB-C, however it says they support the super charge, but the cables are older version e.g. USB 2.0 - USB-C some older version.

Worst case scenario I guess ill have to pick up a generic cable and then get the original one later on.

Or you can just manually fix the cable you already have. It is doable.

I tried yesterday and failed miserably haha, any step by step to do it properly?

I only opened up the broken part and tried attaching but to no avail. Maybe I have to like cut off the entire cable at two locations, open up all wires individually and reattach at the cut off location? sounds like alot of work though, but since it's broken I mean might give it a shot

Yeah, that's it. I would stagger the cuts on the different color wires.

That way if the electrical tape or w/e you use for insulation wears through, the wires next to each other won't short out.

Use Union splices. Just do the "short" Union splices. (A thru D). That way when you tug on the cable during normal use, they just get tighter.

Just tried for an hour, it was too much of a challenge. The wires are microscopical and I couldn't reattach them to eachother again. I'll just buy a new one and leave those things to people who know what they're doing

Just smoke a fatty and it will all become easy. :)

I fixed one that was broken up in the rubber protective coating. That wasn't fun. :D

/e The real secret is to strip back about 4 inches of the outer insulation. With those tiny wires we need that much room for our big fingers to do the work. When it's fixed just cover it all back up with electrical tape.

Doesn't exist in Sweden as far as I know!

Bought a generic USBA-C adapter and as I suspected phone is charging, but not utilizing the super charge so it will be a bit slow.

But it'll work for now until I find an original cable.
