Here is a summary of the changes that we've made. Thank you all very much for your continued participation and the feedback provided. We hope these changes will make things even smoother and more balanced.1. Remove the requirement to submit your d2 account name when registering for the ladder. This was done in response to the recent surge in compromised accounts and growing concern voiced over publically posting your d2 account name.
2. Clarify the elemental damage cap rule. There has been confusion over how to determine the amount of elemental damage permitted. You should be counting the max damage from all elemental damage sources (gear and charms). For example, Highlord’s counts as 30 elemental damage towards the 200 elemental damage cap.
3. Clarify zeal weapon handicap rule. Zealers may use whatever permitted weapon they choose versus one another. However, if you want to use a eRep fools 280+/40/2 or eRep cruel 400+/40/2 then you must keep at least one socket clean when also using Highlord’s. If you want to use both sockets then you will need to use another amulet.
4. Clarify null/dodge rule. We’ve taken a lax approach with the ladder by not issuing dodges when challenges expire without any results. This approach has proven successful so far and the rules needed to be updated accordingly. We’re nulling challenges that do not occur by their expiration date unless we hear otherwise.
5. Close borrowed and stolen item loophole. It is unfortunate to have to explicitly state, but given the recent surge in account compromises and instances of high end gear borrowing, do not use items you do not rightfully or morally own in ladder duels.
6. Close Atma’s Scarab loophole. Y’all could have been using an amulet that gives you the chance to cast amplify damage. Wtfudge? Not anymore.
7. Close eRep / indestructible runeword loophole. Did you know that you could have put an Ohm in your EDC? Well, that needed to be addressed too.
8. Revise the running rule. Most people don’t mind if their opponent runs as long as there isn’t a misclick or simply back off and ask to restart the duel. We’ve updated our rules to better align with the kind practice many have taken as opposed to simply taking an undeserved 1-0.
9. Remove Chilling Armor handicap rule. Removing Chilling Armor after almost every duel can be a pain in the ass and really stretch things out. Many people were waiving the requirement to remove Chilling Armor in the interest of time. This was another instance where we want to better align our rules with actual practices.
10. Ban Death runeword. We heard you loud and clear. It is too strong. The idea behind permitting in the first place was to allow participants who couldn’t afford a high end eRep weapon more competitive alternatives. This didn’t pan out as well as we’d hoped and overwhelming feedback indicated we should ban it.
11. The updates are so damn long... Agreed. We're going to replace the Ladder Melee Rules, Challenge System and Banned Items sections with links to a prior page highlighting the current rules.
Another popular feedback item was to address perceived imbalances with the Inner Sight skill. After careful consideration and some additional testing, we’ve decided to leave the skill and rule surrounding it as is. There are many builds that can stump Inner Sight heavy jabbers. Some of these require thinking outside of the box and are quite affordable at any budget. We encourage you to get creative!
We'd also like to give a shout out and big thanks to ^Mainframe and ^DjEm for donating some custom graphics work to Crown Melee Ladder on behalf of Guild: Legendary Melee. We'll be including this in future ladder updates!
Here is one additional shout out to ^Greniator for assisting with posting ladder updates. Your contributions are greatly appreciated!
We’re happy to hear any additional feedback at any time. Please feel free to pm or discord Julien, Chris or I if you have any questions, want clarity on something or whatever. We’re happy to help.tl;dr > We've adjusted the rules based on feedback and current practices as well as made some cosmetic updates to our ladder update posts. This post was edited by Cambria on Jun 5 2020 12:10pm
