On my laptop I lose WiFi after about 1 minute of using it. The signal seems to work on my other devices and also my laptop holds other WiFi connections. I troubleshoot the disconnection and it says "default gateway" however it is then fixed for another minute or so. I've tried a lot of what I've found on Google and it doesn't seem to be working. I've reverted my laptop back to old settings, edited the power settings, flushed the DNS and much more but I'm somewhat lost. Any networking junkies here?

The previous person who helped me found a solution that worked for 10 minutes or so then reverted back

Ok so lets start at the top...

What type of wifi router?
Do any other devices have issues connecting to it?
What type of Laptop?
Is the Wifi controlled by windows or another 3rd party app? (Intel proset wifi, Dell Wifi Manager)
Does your machine connect to the internet hardwired?
Can you ping 8.8.8.8?
Do you happen to have an external wifi adapter?

Lets just start with this for now and we can deep dive after this.

I have been using this laptop for years on this without an issue, however a few months ago I may have changed some setting by mistake. Ever since then I've had this issue. It holds a connection for maybe 2-3 minutes then it gives me the little yellow triangle error on the WiFi signal in my toolbar.

Two things real quick;

Your router is a Rodgers Hintron

2nd, the 4th question I listed of is it controlled by Windows or a 3rd party was not a yes or no question. It has to be controlled by something, but I will assume it is being controlled by windows.

If that is the case, and going off your info that it is a ThinkPad520

https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-t-series-laptops/thinkpad-t520/downloads

Has all the drivers for your wireless card listed here.

I would try reinstalling the drivers and testing again.
Thinkpads a few years ago were notorious for their poor driver support and it could be a simple fix . Make sure you select the corresponding OS you have installed.

Sorry I read your question about a 3rd party incorrect, I apologize. Yes it's being controlled by Windows. Last time I tried to resolve this I updated all drivers, but i will test it again. I'll need to hardwire in to download them.

No worries, check your device manager to make sure there is not two things trying to run your wifi

Intel software, vs windows, something else

That would definitely piss off your wireless card.

Run Device Manager, expand Network Adapters, and post up what specific wireless adapter you have. Also, if you double-click on the adapter to bring up it's properties, then click the driver tab, post what driver version it's using.

Ok so I have a few Network adapters but they've been disabled.

Centrino is: 14.0.1.2
