i think you build to match AP
and to match AP upgrades on items that provide utility (morrelo for example ontop of luden, after a 3e AP item)

only your q and passive scale a little with AP

some reasons why Vel koz support is a option, is couse of the base damage
voidstaff and sorc shoes probably provide more damage from penetration as that 250AP provides

Love when top lane throws the game because he didn't get mid in champ select. Lost it for us single handedly, and Kayn tried to help him once Vayne was already 4/0...
