Wtf....

They could have at least explained it all. If they explained it at the end I think I would have liked it. But they dont tell you a god damn thing.

At least in A Quiet Place you know whats going on, its explained and cut and dry. This had no explanation or reasoning.

I mean what they are/where they came from isn't really all that important... The movie isn't about that.

But they are obviously Lovecraftian monsters. The crazy guy drew those cryptic images that are very Lovecraftian and the whole "just looking at it will drive you insane" is pulled straight from Lovecraft.
