Depends on the state and even then county to county can be different.

Here diesel trucks are only subject to a safety inspection and not an emissions inspection. Anything over a specific GVWR is subject to emissions on diesels though but i've never come close on any of our 1 tons or smaller box trucks yet.

However, the next county over doesn't do any emissions testing (gas or diesel).

not sure if the newer ones are the same as old lb7 or w/e 03 is.

but I was told to get a nice new fuel filter every 10k miles to keep the injectors happy.

They fixed the injector problems in the lbz. You are correct though, those lb7 injectors were a treat...

my truck is a little older than what your after, but
the old duramax has been such a love.
just turned 50k and I feel like the engine could go 400k with out a problem..

takes me and my dirtbike anywhere we need to go, and when I get done with my ride I always know it will fire up and get me home

I used to have a 2010 Gas Chevy Silverado 1500

I sold it in July for a 2018 Chevy Silverado 3500

Ask away my man. I would never go back to gas personally. But it depends are you pulling anything? Can you afford to pay more for a diesel?
