I’ve been shiny hunting caterpie for 6 hours now and nothing
My chain is 42 is it true anything over 31 doesn’t matter or should I keep chaining ?
I want my god damn pink butterfree

I haven't heard that as true. I've had shinies pop up after just a few (3-5) and then I've had some that took 200+

It only increases your chances the longer you chain.

Make sure you have 31+ combo and have lure on.
It also helps if you keep encountering them to reset the monsters faster.
I personally have 8 shiny some of them took like 20 minutes and one of them took 20 hours (lapras) was pain in the ass but i wanted a 6 shiny pokemon team so i went for it

I tend to experience the following, could be coincidental but here it goes:

When you get your combo on your Pokémon, leave the area completely and go to a different place where it spawns. Shiny will pop up almost instantly with lure (and shiny Charm)

The shiny could be any Pokémon of course. But I have spent HOURS in one spot, chaining, chaining, chaining, and unless I am entering a NEW area - then a shiny comes up almost instantly. Sometimes it’s not the one I’m chaining.


After getting a combo and breaking it on a new chain, I would find shiny Pokémon around catch 20. So it varies. But try the method above?

so best odds possible of encountering shiny is 31 combo, and lure. with shiny charm

if you are at catch combo of 200+ you have the same odds as a catch combo of 31.

been farming shiny dratini for 8 hours at 31+ combo and still nothing...

Dratini is a bitch. DAYS it took me. I gave up. Then got it at 20 combo xD
