Okay so I’m gonna go ahead and be nice and give a real answer...

boots basically give zero useable mods other than Frw, fhr, life, stats, resists. The only exceptions to this are gore riders and goblin toes for crushing blow/deadly strike/ow, which is why the are used by almost all melee builds.

Every other item in the game can give much more useful mods like stats, skills, fcr, ias

Because of this the “best” unique/set boots only give 3-4 useful mods so a pair of rare boots that gives frw, fhr and 3 high resists is way better than the next best option, which are aldurs/treks/ww that give 4 mods at best.

If there were a pair of unique boots that gave fcr or ias, they would be the only boots used by melee or caster chars since the next best options are all terrible when it comes to hitting the necessary breakpoints

Would depend on the rest of gear and what you plan on achieving. In pvp if you can hit max res on cta side with aldurs yes they are a top notch boot but if you sacrifice max res for 10frw your an idiot. Pvm I would imagine if your other gear didn't cover your res same scenario the 50 life from aldurs is negligible when compared to missing 30-40 res to hit your cap

you're forgetting also 50 life that is a huge boost on aldurs.

i assume the character that would use the most aldur boots on pvp are nec and dru so almost no reason to consider other chars. That said, a nec or a dru that must rely on boots in order to get 75@ in hell is poorly built or equipped.
Also, on my nec the only duels where i would take out aldur in order to get res are foh and cold sorc.

Well that depends. Ladder doesn't have the same gear available as nl so sometimes it is hard to hit max on cta side without res boots. I use aldurs on my nec/dudu also but I don't have super welfare gear either.

Also for pvm which is what this topic was about I do believe the 50 life is minimal compared to res as far as prioritization.
