Isn't it that you play 5 times and then you (and only you) get 100 gold?

wrong. "Starting November 7 at 10:00 am PST through November 11, everyone who logs in will receive six free The Boomsday Project card packs. Then hang out and play with friends to earn up to 500 gold! Everyone* will receive the Celebrate the Players quest which rewards 100 gold when you play a friendly challenge. This celebratory quest is repeatable up to five times—you can even do them all in the same day!—for a total of 500 gold!"

Oh sweet. Why is there a * though?

I wonder if it stacks with the regular paf too then.

*You’ll need to complete the introductory quests “First Blood” and “The Duelist” to unlock daily quests, (or “Ready for Action” if you’re a returning player). Be sure to make room in your quest log before November 7 so you don’t lose a quest you intended to complete. Just like Play a Friend!, don’t concede too early, or you may not receive credit for completing the quest. Unlike Play a Friend!, Celebrate the Players only provides rewards to players who have this quest in their own quest log.

If you HAVE the celebration 100g quest and play a friend who does not have the quest: You get the gold, your friend gets nothing
If you HAVE the celebration 100g quest and play a friend who has the quest: You and your friend get gold.
If you DONT have the celebration quest and play a friend who has the quest: You DONT get anything, your friend gets gold.

TLDR: if you have the celebration quest, you get gold when playing with friends. If you don't have the quest, you dont get gold when playing with friends.

What you say is totally true, but why would you say i'm wrong ? as i just said challenging a player, doesn't give the gold for both of the players.
So it's working like paf but without the gold being given in both side
I can say you what im saying is totally true as i tested it.

this

you just get gold as long as you have "charges" on your quest
aka, you cant get more than 500g no matter how many friendly duel you do from that quest event
