I know that lower resist has 1/5 effectiveness when breaking immunity, and any excess -res is applied normally. My question is after breaking 100% resist, does the excess debuff apply at 100% effectiveness or 20% effectiveness?

Example: Lets say i have a level 20 lower resist curse (-62%), and a 110% fire resist monster. Which is correct?

#1: 110% - (62/5 = 12.4) = 97.5% fire resist

#2: 110% - (50/5 = 10) = 100% - 12 = 88% fire resist

100%.

So, in your example #2

Edit; almost example #2

#2: 110% - (55/5 = 11) = 99% - 7 = 92% fire resist

Note conviction works the same way, only difference is that the curse works for psn, and conviction doesn't. They stack

it's #1.

The usual example is infy (lvl12 convi = -85res) against 100lr monster
lr becomes 100-85/5=100-17=83

I know that lower resist has 1/5 effectiveness when breaking immunity, and any excess -res is applied normally. My question is after breaking 100% resist, does the excess debuff apply at 100% effectiveness or 20% effectiveness?

Example: Lets say i have a level 20 lower resist curse (-62%), and a 110% fire resist monster. Which is correct?

#1: 110% - (62/5 = 12.4) = 97.5% fire resist

#2: 110% - (50/5 = 10) = 100% - 12 = 88% fire resist

#1 is essentially correct - the game uses integer division: 110 - 62/5 = 110 - 12 = 98.

Another example (because many players get this wrong):

110% FR target gets cursed with L20 LR and subjected to L12 Conviction.
Note that even though either one would break the immunity by itself, 1/5 effectiveness applies to both when combined.

Hence in this case the calculation is 110 - 62/5 - 85/5 = 98 - 17 = 81.

Target has 81% FR while cursed and within aura range.
