So prepatch is 1.08 and earlier right?

When did rares get nerfed with reduced frh on helms and boots and lower str and dex affixes and stuff like that.

I'm trying to figure out what patch I should play classic to get all those goodies.

Why would you play the last patch before the nerf why not that get the very first patch when everything was untouched that way you cant go wrong?

1.00 is aweful for some classes like the amazon. Enhanced dmg didn't work with bows or crossbows. Many other bugs made 1.00 too unbalanced. Hence I'd rather find godlies in a more playable patch.

1.00 - 1.06 are all the same when it comes to prefixes and suffixes for magic and rare items, so any of the patches should be fine for helms with +20 FHR or boots with +str, etc.
it was 1.07 that nerfed/changed this stuff, but i think only for LoD. I assume all post-1.07 patches use the files from patch_d2, so you should no longer be able to get those affixes there.
Classic 1.07 is probably a horrible experience, though. ^_^

which patch is the best one mostly depends on the class you want to play, since some patches nerfed or buffed skills, or fixed items that were broken. but if you'd rather have the least buggy version, then 1.05 or 1.06.
