I remember fighting Pit Lords in the Chaos Sanctuary with my nephew several years ago and it was deemed a difficult task back then.
Not many people had access to enigmas or HoZ shields, all we could level and fight with were mere wizardspikes.
I understand your point that GoA the scammer might have died to a Pit Lord but remember that monsters are the first opponents you meet in this game and they are not always easy to deal with.
Especially the Uber-level Pit Lords, those are immunes to many attacks if I recall correctly.
To conclude, I think no one in 2018 - 1.14d should be dying to shit head Pit Lords. And to add to the joke, Baldy most likely died wearing Enigma, HoZ, HOtO and all the godly endgame gear.
