Here is a guide on how color spawns on classic (non-expansion) Diablo II

Any item with a "color" mod will be granted the color tint of that mod.
But if an item has more than one "color" mod, which one will it be?
If you imagine an item being spawned, imagine that it picks prefix mods first and suffix mods second.
The last "color" mod picked will be the color of the item. Mods are randomly selected, but suffixes always come second, so any suffix mod will "color over" any prefix mods.

Here is a list of those "color" prefixes and suffixes in classic:

note that this is NOT a list of all classic mods, only the ones that have a color attached to them
and the item types are not all item types that can receive that mod, just the ones which gain the color visibly

never heard of these files. did you make them up, or which mpq has these?

sorry it's just MagicPrefix.txt and MagicSuffix.txt in d2exp.mpq/data/global/excel
i had just saved copies as ExpMagic to keep them apart from the older ones from d2data.mpq
