for vhof forget about "carry" nobody will carry someone through it even without giving up gold jewelery
35k seems to be the avg dps test atm, on console that with all mechanics for people who are not already top 100 on weeklies constantly = 40-50% drop off on rakkhat, for vhof its prob 60% on 2nd to last set of bosses.
I ran vhof last night with some veteran friends, still a pug, wiped 4 times on 2nd to last boss got lucky on 5th sort to say
just need to find a guild and build your core. I am not a dps person, but even on sorc without newest sets/non-pet build am pulling 38-39k constantly with over 20% magicka pool (elemental drain provided)
don't listen to alcast, he is not a console player and he is upper average dps at best, I remember when he had moondancer swords build and all templars went out looking for those stupid swords while staff/staff build did 30% more on dps on hm hel ra/rakkhat/even noob trial like vso hm, sacrificing their range for 300 spell dmg boost (<5%)
find some youtube videos from console players, practice roto with focus on 39-42k constantly with 20% mana left and eledrain, sooner or later you will be noticed
