Looks like gaming_spy.dll is causing Explore to crash. It doesn't sound to me like gaming_spy.dll is a part of Explorer.

Do you have Avast installed. A quick google shows gaming_spy.dll is installed by Avast and is also causing issues with Explorer, in other games as well.

Get rid of Avast, get Avira or Bitdefender free.

I'm not dissing Avast or anything, just saying that my Google of game_spy.dll brought a lot of similar results. As you can see from the Real World test from AV comparative, Bitdefender has great blocking and zero false positives.

Ok...

Anything could change. It could be some Windows Update. It could be some Avast Update. I read where it was affecting Explorer for some guy while playing Overwatch.
Bitdefender works fine. The paid version removes malware from websites too. If we can believe that stuff.

If you have paid Avast, just save the serial, and you can re-install if you desire.
I go by AV-Comparative. They've been rating protection a long long time.

If you do nothing else, un-install Avast and see if the problem goes away.

Linked in post #4.

There are others in the image in post #4 that also have 100% blocked and low to no, false positives. I use paid Bitdefender Internet Security and it has more modules than I even like. LOL
I've been using it since 2013. While that's all well and good, there is nothing more secure than having good backups.

I use Acronis True Image Home, and it hasn't failed me yet. I usually make a new backup about every two weeks. Acronis has a bootable CD/USB w/e, so you can get to your backups even when Windows fails to boot.
I never make Incremental or Scheduled backups. They will just backup the cooties with everything else. I only make a backup when I know everything is clean and working properly.

/e I'm not trying to say the Bitdefender is the only solution. I am saying that there seems to be an issue with Avast and Windows. They both get updates, maybe it will be fixed soon.
The issue currently is not just one game...it seems to be more widely spread. It seem to be an issue with Avast and Windows.

You can also try turning off Game mode in Avast, see if that fixes the crashing.
