You can run it with distilled water and it'll be fine, it's when you start changing the viscosity of the fluid is when it has issues. The water opening hole for the pump is about the diameter of a bobby pin for reference. The regular fittings are fine. The angled look like that's soft tubing sizes.. G1/4 is common for soft tubers. If you opt for the distilled water make sure to add a kill coil.

Some of the tubing packages contain anti inhibitiors you mix with a gallon of distilled water now. Kinda nice
