That was before MIB3.... I also didn't say MIB3 was his best movie, or even a good movie, I just said that this was his best since that one. MIB3 was 2012, and everything he's done since then has been complete trash. People keep telling me Concussion was good, but it just seems like such a fucking gimmick bullshit movie. I'll watch it eventually, but I have a hard time believing Smith's performance is all that great in it. Prior to MIB3, he did Seven Pounds, which I consider to be his best movie (another example of me heavily disagreeing with critics). Pursuit was his best individual performance, but I thought Seven Pounds was an all around better movie. That was in 2008 though. Fucking crazy that it's been that long since he's done an above average movie, but I guess he really doesn't have that many great movies to begin with. Pursuit of Happiness, Seven Pounds (critics disagree), Enemy of the State, Independence Day (this is debatable, just a summer blockbuster, but I love it for w/e reason), and I'd put the first MIB in there, I liked that one. Pretty much everything else he's done has been bad-meh. I still love Will Smith, but he loves being in bad movies, I think MIB and Pursuit of Happiness are his only movies with a 7+ (IMDB) and 80%+ on RT.
He's done plenty of movies that I've enjoyed, but objectively they're not good films lol. Hancock, I Am Legend, and the Bad Boys movies to name a few.
I agree on almost everything but man I loved the first Bad Boys. Tea Leoni was banging back then. I always enjoyed Seven Pounds more the Pursuit of Happiness, and the dude just struck out with me on a TON of movies in the 2010s. After I watched After Earth or whatever it was called with his son, I pretty much swore off his films. Bright was a nice change and his acting was really solid.
I'm gonna agree with some others here too - the way the previews came out and such, I really thought it was going to be a series. I was surprised it was a movie, and think it could have done very well as a series. But let's hope for a sequel.
