If they do a D2 Remastered (and I'm sure they will because it's such a low-investment way of making money), I would have to think they would do it on an updated server.

I can't see how these updates would really play into that outside of maybe encouraging a few more people to get interested in the game again before they announce the remastered edition.

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying saying they're doing the updates to re-engage interest in the game.

They did the exact same thing with Brood War a few months before Remastered was released with the 1.18 patches (first patches since 2009).

I wonder how many more people actually played the game for the reset. Seems like only the die-hards would still play it.
