was wondering if there is any heatsink fan i could purchase for my CPU that would not block out the first RAM slot on my motherboard .. my motherboard is a ASUS m5a97 r2.0 and i currently have the hyper 212 evo for my heatsink fan.

I wanted to up my RAM a bit due to gaming lately and streaming. [ from 8 gbs to 16]

but i cant due to the big ass fan.

Just wondering what kind of low profile RAM i could get for my moba + current heatsink problem.

The best solution would be to buy a 16GB "set" that only takes two slots. That way it won't interfere with the Hyper 212 Evo.

Corsair has low profile RAM, but I wouldn't mix and match RAM.

Depends on what you have already...make/model.

/e As for size (height) you would have to measure. The Hyper 212 EVO has 37mm ( 1.45 inches) clearance from the fan to the top of the CPU.

I'm still suggesting...that if you want 16GB of RAM you buy a 16GB set.
I'm NOT suggesting you buy a short set of RAM to go with your tall set of RAM.

Just about everything you do on a comp, goes thru the RAM. That's why matched sets of RAM are recommended.

You MIGHT get away with an unmatched set, but the odds are greater that a mismatched set will cause problems.

You should be able to move the fan on the 212 a bit away from the motherboard to give you more ram clearance.
