its the same crowd that says "get rid of bots and so many people will come back to the game"..... yup sure, about 10% of the people that leave and once they realize they dont have the same hours to grind mf items like when they were 15 and there are no bots around to provide items they'll run back to whatever game they came from.

its ok to say "get rid of the botters and let this game die in dignity" its stupid to suggest it will help the longevity of the game. It's on its last leg, and they're cutting that leg out.

Why would Blizzard, uhh, Activision want d2 to be still played when it's not really a profitable game to them anymore.

while i tend to agree people made the same argument for why Blizzard would NEVER clean up the 3rd part usage or really put anything into the game other than resetting ladders. here we are in a day and age where they're banning massive percentages of the playerbase in a dead game they make no money off of. weird times.

i have a hard time nailing down blizzards motives recently, i think they deemed it worth their investment to get some credibility back. The status of D2 has been an open joke for a long time. they made an equally puzzling c&d call to Nostalrius when they were largely a non-profit project.

It's funny how all the grown adults on this game will lie about not cheating. You used autotele/maphack/redvex/botting software (yes as nice as d2nt/etal is and human like, no one plays d2 doing the same thing for 4+ hours) and cry over a ban

They send those letters out to every single server all the time, almost on a monthly basis. it's the minimum they have to do to keep their IP. And the emails are ignored all the time ofc and blizz never follows up ofc because there's no motivation. Nost just played it off as being because of the C&D because they didnt want to foot the blame for not being able to keep this overgrown non-profit passion project going anymore.

That’s how a majority of people play Diablo 2 now, especially this community. Diablo 2 doesn’t really have a lot of replayability unless you enjoy grinding the same map for experience and items ad naseum. People have even lied to themselves saying pvp is Diablo 2’s end game. Diablo 2 doesn’t have an end game. It’s a 17 year old ARPG where you go from point A to point B, not a modern MMO.

1. many people have argued that they don't need to send out C&D's constantly to keep their IP. its murky legal area, but at the least that's not a fact with much precedent.

2. nost was hosted in an area that blizz could shut it down, the server was involved in the C&D

they do send C&D's to russia all the time though and no one there cares lol
