im not too invested in anything yet..probably wont get anything until ~march 2018.
but anyway im just wondering at least in my area the DMV there are so many used nissan altimas that are fairly new 2013-2016 for like $10-12k with not too many miles on them. is it a bad car? known with issues?
i was probably just going to get an '06-'11 corolla or civic bc its just going to be driven maybe 180 miles a week at most and they seem like reliable cars. but if altimas are a good choice i dont see why i wouldnt get one thats only a couple years old for what doesnt seem to be too expensive.
ive just been looking at carfax 50 miles within zipcode 20847 incase youre wondering what im looking at.

My buddy has an ultima with like 300k miles on it, drives it daily. My son has a maxima for his beater car with 250k+ on it, both have the 3.5l motor, which seems to be pretty good, timing chain issues is the only bad thing I have heard about them.

My dad had an 08 Altima. Put about 220k miles on it, then got a new one in 2014. Has about 80k miles on it currently. The only "Big" issues he had were the 08 had an exhaust leak in the cab which was like a $1600 repair. And then after he traded it in, we got a call about 4 months later that it caught fire but the dealership sold it at auction and no one titled it after him which is the only reason we heard it caught fire lol.

Altimas are good cars. Both motors are proven in them so it's not a bad buy. Civics will always be a good go to.

Had an Altima rental about a year ago. It ran 80+MPH from Ohio to Chicago like a dream. Pretty decent gas mileage, too.
