I would second this. Our 2011 cruze has performed well for 130k miles and the issues we have had with it were fixed by the 2014 model year.
Get a 1.4L turbo/auto or the 1.4L/manual Eco model. Do not get the 1.8L N/A engine.
My 2009 Malibu is at 135k and it is in great shape, lots of nice features, bought used so I didn't break the bank at all
Newer models have better eco engines, older models might as well go for the v6
