I'm always at 100% disk usage and there is nothing really on thats taking up..

i have tried many steps like

disable window search, skype, superfetch, reset virt memory, update drivers, diable antivirus,

what else can i do.. none of above helped.

Are you using task manager to monitor the usage?

It isn't very accurate... Sometimes with only 1-2mbps it shows 100% usage.


If it is actually using 100%, Find out what program is using that much.. It should show each programs mbps in the resource monitor -> Hard drive tab.

yeah i wish there was a way to measure absolute disk performance relative to the highest speeds it can obtain but due to the nature of i/o workloads it is just not possible. your hdd might be working as hard as it can to get over 1-2mb/s in some cases and in others it will be able to get the full 100+

open process hacker, and see what is using so much of it, by going to the Disk tab or just yeah mousing over the performance graph in the taskbar if you have it
