When I researched the topic last, it essentially said that way more studies needed to be done and that diet soda may be a problem, but there was no definitive proof.
The problem with these studies is that the majority of people who drink diet soda have other serious health problems like obesity, high blood pressure, etc. and it's hard to link cancer and other risk factors to just the diet soda intake.
