Juve signed Matuidi from PSG for 20M

Basically swapped Lemina for Matuidi which is great for us.

Never really rated Matuidi, but it probably is still an upgrade indeed.

If it's a signing that can help bring the most out of Pjanic, then I'm all for it.

It may just be a stop gap signing for a season or two but that could do the job.

Matuidi is literally all lungs.

That's basically what's needed next to Pjanic. A big problem last season for us was playing a double pivot of Pjanic and Khedira. Neither are really known for their defensive work nor for covering the space required for a two man midfield. Matuidi offers a better solution.

Not for Juve, or rather doesn't have the legs to do it in a two man midfield next to Pjanic who doesn't offer much on that side.

ah, haven't watched italian games, but I remember him for his defensive work at real. Intercepted alot of passes.

You know, in his first season at Juve our midfield was Pogba-Marchisio-Khedira. This was a brilliant midfield, Marchisio shifted from his traditional B2B to a DM and was having the season of his life until he tore his acl. He's back and still class but we just have so much going up front that it's going to be what we focus on.

Last season, we added Pjanic and sold Pogba. Marchisio returned and got better as the season went on. The preferred formation became a 4-2-3-1 with the double pivot of Pjanic and Khedira. So maybe it's unfair to Khedira to say he's not good defensively, it's just a massive task for one player to have to cover that much field.

really decent signing imo, juve is doing great business recently
