can someone do a simple statistics test on hero edit?
make something do very consistent dmg(e.g 1000-1001)

then see how amp works vs 50%dr and not wearing dr...im curious myself

Knock yourself out. Feel free to post or not post results when test completed

attack dmg = 100 // monster has 50% dr // effective dmg = 50
If choose Amp -> Triples attack from 50 to 150 :) winner
If choose 2.5x -> 50 x 2.5 = 125

attack dmg = 100 // monster has 0% dr // effective dmg = 100
If choose Amp -> Doubles attack from 100 to 200
If choose 2.5x -> 100 x 2.5 = 250 :) winner

conclusions
Nice little riddle. Shows that more dmg reduction always means less dmg taken (ignoring exceeding certain caps), and that the effectiveness of amp is most noticeable on 50 %DR builds.

100dmg attack
0% DR = 100dmg -> with amp 200dmg (x2.00)
10% DR = 90dmg -> with amp 190dmg (x2.11)
20% DR = 80dmg -> with amp 180dmg (x2.25)
30% DR = 70dmg -> with amp 170dmg (x2.43)
40% DR = 60dmg -> with amp 160dmg (x2.67)
50% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 150dmg (x3.00)
60% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 140dmg (x2.80)
70% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 130dmg (x2.60)
80% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 120dmg (x2.40)
90% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 110dmg (x2.20)
100% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 100dmg (x2.00)
110% DR = 50dmg -> with amp 90dmg (x1.80)

Maybe this is simpler if we only look at characters/monsters with 50% damage reduction. Afterall, we all know how Amplify Damage works on zero damage reduction targets.

i) The Amplify Damage curse induces -100% physical damage reduction on the character/monster.

ii) A character/monster with 50% damage reduction will have -50% damage reduction after being cursed with Amplify Damage, because 50 + (-100) = (-50).

iii) A character with -50% damage reduction takes triple the damage a character with 50% damage reduction would take.

Therefore: the amplify damage curse makes a target with 50% damage reduction take three times as much damage.

Perhaps we can agree/disagree on each of these facts and then discuss the mathematics from there.

No use. We've said this in 52 different scenarios/dialogues.

Perhaps one day they will get it lol. I see Triunes left :rofl:

True, but everyday there still seem to be more people confused about these facts.

Thought I’d take one last attempt at it. I know you all have worked so hard to enlighten.

Post 100 is my fav.
