It wasn't added for the show. It was in the book as well, the book was just more desperate and less tender than the show made it appear.

I'm actually impressed how close to the book they're making this. Some minor changes for the better, but the dialogue is almost word for word.

And I was actually quite amazed what they did with the Jinn, after reading it I wasn't expecting too much given the taboo, but they made probably one of the most memorable scenes on television. Though Bilquis and her entrance was pretty damn memorable in itself.

The change for mad sweeney is good, in the book his actions after losing the coin didn't make much sense, but now that they made it a source of his luck, the outcome is going to a lot more fitting.

Anubis was great as well, it made you feel for a woman you just met, without even knowing much about her.

I'm getting tempted to start after reading the positive comments in this thread.

3 episodes so far out of 8 episodes. Already renewed for season 2. From what they said, they/re looking at 3-4 seasons out of the book, some parts of his other book anansi boys and some of the short stories neil did.

Nice. Just watched the trailer and it looked bad, but some good actors

Loved that recent episode even though it wasn't in the book at all. The way they changed their backstory worked though.
Was interesting to see how shadow was saved and that exploding spinal cord and skull not shot was brilliant.

Even if it wasn't in the books he could put it in because he feels it is important to the story. You shouldn't jump straight to he is gay.
