my perspective as someone who played the pc version since beta and every league since is that they need to simplify a lot via loot filters, text, ui changes, etc.
http://i.imgur.com/AHPiknJ.jpg do you really think this is going to be something that can be dealt with on a tv screen with a controller? I sure as hell wouldn't want to try. Not to mention stash management which is hell even with a mouse. But that's just design issues... there's some things that i don't think can simply be 'fixed'
this game spams i/o requests at all times even after loading so needs an ssd to run smoothly, can't multi thread for shit, and has a very outdated game engine in general that hasn't kept up with the way the gameplay has sped up exponentially over the years. Barely runs on high end pcs that have a surplus of iops and single thread speed and they expect this to run on a console hmmm yeah this goes deeper than what simple optimizations and parallelization can fix, they need to rebuild it from the ground up on a brand new engine.
I'm not seeing how it's possible to bring it to xbone unless the game is massively dumbed/slowed down because look at this shit:
also this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1nznOulBx4The game just has a lot more going on than I think the average console player gives enough of a shit to learn, not to say they are stupid, it's just an insane amount of information to expect people to internalize for a hack n slash. What's the incentive when there are better games on console to play? The experience that separates the veterans from the new players gives the latter such a humongous edge that it's going to further demoralize console players that want to get into it.
Even once you've mastered it, it's good to keep reference sheets on hand like these (just an example there are many more examples of overly complex, obfuscated, or quite frankly unintuitive mechanics):
I simply think the target audience (basically autists, refer to avvy/sig for my credentials) isn't there for console and I don't expect it to take off. Would prefer they just focused on the PC version more but oh well.
