Prevention is better than treatment, is a common Dutch saying. With universal healthcare (in some form), people will be paying into the system regardless of how much healthcare they use. Which means that people can go talk to their doctor before they become clinicially depressed or stroke out due to high cholesterol etc.
observations of humans throughout history are, tho.
Many insurance plans have simulated this effect by giving discounts for preventive measures and good habits.

It seems like in the USA, where healthcare is expensive, people are far from healthy. It has only gotten worse over the years with obesity.
The insurance mandates and regulations have obfuscated prices from consumers and increased the cost of healthcare and insurance.
Yes many americans have far worse diets and exercise habits.

Imo higher costs of healthcare for the consumer only incentivize the consumer to avoid healthcare altogether.
Avoiding some expensive forms of healthcare is one of the effects for some people. The only one? a figure of speech i hope.
Making healthcare more expensive is not the solution being proposed by market advocates.
Government policies are the biggest reasons why it is so expensive right now.
