if the helm has the mod "% Chance to cast Nova when struck", usually means the color is Blue, correct?

In terms of what affix will be the deciding colour, for magic items suffix > prefix, for rare items it is suffix 1 > suffix 2 > suffix 3 > prefix 1 > prefix 2 > prefix 3

Nova will give you crystal blue, frost nova will give you light blue.
If it has ctc nova/frost nova and 31+ life, there is a chance that it will be red, but you can have both blue color and 31+ life.

I'll also add, for any future reference, you can achieve different shades of colour by socketing different quality gem types, with Perfect gems you get a bright vibrant appearance and with chipped gems you get a more weaker stained type appearance, imo some chipped gem appearances look better, like chipped emeralds in plate armours have a nice British Racing Green look.

That and the dark blue you get with non-perfect sapphires are pretty nice colors.

Yeah :) we have some level 1 mules for holding gears and uber keys/torches etc and always put some stylish gear on them for lols, the blue chipped gem looks nice on a barb

I thought of making one with Tyrael's, Spirit Ward and a properly gemmed arreat-gfx hat. With a botd and a decent inv, it should work for general pvm. Already have a level 82 dark purple barb made with a similar principle.

Thanks guys! It turned out to be dark red, probably because of the +58 life
