And our local utility department just found out that bombardier ordered South Korean transformers and had them shipped here, installed them and put power on them without them being CSA approved. Epcor, the local utility. Just cut off power upon finding this out. And now massive generators are coming to site and city has to pay the fuel for them. Sad. Heads gonna roll. These public dollar jobs are always a disaster
i dont quite know how lrt funding works, but downtown toronto is a similar situation here where its delayed and theres a lot of extra costs, from what ive heard. but what youre describing sounds like the contractors issue not the municpality, not sure why the city would have to pay to fuel something they never wanted. would be different if they specd out these transformers, they were installed correctly but dont work as intended, then the city would be fucked

all depends which side i guess. in my case, if the city is paying more to the contractor, we win big time. everything is bid with such little markup that a small issue can completely fuck up the job. a lot of coin comes in through change orders
