Did your mother ever take you into the women’s bathroom at the JC Penny package pickup when you were a kid? How would you have felt if those bathrooms were unisex instead of properly gendered?

It doesn't matter I identify as a purple unicorn, my highly developed unicorn brain knew this at a very young age, its what allows me to look down on cretins like you.

Why is calling someone a queer a slur when it's part of the LGBTQ label? I get that the guy was intending to use it negatively, but does negative intent immediately make a label(like Jew, black, Mexican) a slur?

This sort of visceral, nutty energy is present in a lot of America though. Trump couldn't have won without many people like this guy.

Yeah, why can't I call them niggers when they call each other that?

That's not a great example.

If simply having negative intent behind a descriptor of a person means it's a slur, fine. But that hasn't been my understanding of the word before.

If it is, practically anything can be a slur. Irish, Christian, Muslim, gay, white male, etc. I thought slurs were particular words to demean, like spook, cracker, faggot, etc.

If he identifies as gay but not queer and using queer with the intent of disparaging another person was the objective, it's a slur.

Really? That seems arbitrary.

If the guy is expressing hatred and using the label incorrectly without knowing, it's a slur? But if he has the same hate intent, but uses the correct label, it's not a slur?

Yes, practically anything can be a slur based on the context, and what contexts make the word a slur also change over time. It's not a bad example, it's literally the exact same thing happening in both situations. Queer used to be used exclusively as a slur, but was then adopted as part of the LGBTQ community with a more specific meaning.
