Blue is stronger than red, this has been stated in the manga several times.

Yeah, it's not though. Blue is the super saiyan form of red, & has been desribed as the form that surpasses red. Both Goku & vegeta can use red, if it was stronger they would've used it versus freiza, black goku/zamasu & Hit, but they used blue...because its stronger.

Goku's going to use his super saiyan god form (red) with Hit, as it's not his strongest form & doesn't drain his stamina like blue does.
