And it does sound like it. IGN is supposed to be revealing a bunch of new stuff which was typically reserved for GI.

Guess they won the bidding war for the exclusive. I did like gameinformer's coverage, and I think the people at GI are a bit more knowledgeable than destin and fran and co at ign. I'll read/watch it all anyways.

I don't see why he'd lie though. With the current state of internet and print games journalism I wouldn't be surprised if outreach has a greater impact than cash. The amount they stand to make from sales to casual/mainstream ign fans/gamers may outweigh whatever small fee they'd get up front.
