When removing cpu thermal paste (and cooler too i guess) should i use a qtip or cotton ball?

Isopropyl alcohol 90% or better, and a coffee filter. Coffee filters are lint-less.

/e The iso alcohol can be purchased for like $3 in a chain drug store, like CVS or the like.
