So, I started golfing ~15 years ago and have played with some a no-name brand set of cavity back irons the entire time. My handicap is now low double digits and I'm wanting to get a new set of irons.

I went and demo'd some new Mizuno MP-69 blades that I LOVED when hitting at the golf sore (off turf, into a screen). Does have experience demo'ing blades in a store and then trying them on an actual course - Is the representation pretty accurate?

Does anyone have any suggestions of some irons that are a few years old that would be similar to the MP69's that I could maybe buy a used set on *** for a couple hundred bucks to try for a while to see if indeed I am ready for some Blades?

Thanks!

I suggest you change your mind about blades, perhaps a hybrid/forged type iron like the Titleist AP2's

I agree. I'm using MP-37 Mizuno Blades only because they were collecting dust in the garage / my cavity back set looks to big and nasty at address.

Blades are very responsive. If you flush it, ball flys great and lands softly.
If you hit it a little thin, you'll know right away.

I want AP2's. I'm going to have to test them one day.

P.S. you can probably find a set like mine for 600 $

Don't get blades like everyone has said lol.

Also, wait until November at the earliest to buy. New stuff will start coming out so year or two old clubs will go down in price. Titleist is launching a whole new line of irons so APs should come down to a nicer, more reasonable price. That's the best suggestion I can think of and it's already been said. If I were able to see your swing, I could make a better recommendation.

PS, in case you didn't know, I work at GolfSmith so I know all the clubs, specs, crap, etc lol. Just wanting to add some credit to what I'm saying which is only backing up what everyone else is saying haha.

Edit: Carefull on yabe (won't allow me to spell it forward) though. Had a gentleman bring in a set of Rocketbladez Maxs the other day, $1200 new, he bought them on there for $800, they were knock offs. Really good ones, I only caught it because I'm a clubmaker now and I noticed the ferrules were a little off. Called TM and they confirmed the serial numbers were off and the clubs were forgeries.
