Heya Rex! I'm doing pretty good, all things considered. Just working and playing music, so same old thing I suppose. When I sold my valuable LS items last year I used the fg to buy Steam wallet funds and then used that (plus more I got from selling items in other games) to buy myself a Steam Deck, which I absolutely love. I generally only have time for gaming in short bursts so it's great to be able to pause games and put it to sleep then pick it up again later, and having access to not only my Steam games but also anything else you can install on a PC (like emulators) is fantastic.

How've you been doing? Glad to see you still slashing away

How does the steam deck do performance wise? Like compared to a switch? I'm sure better but what games do you play on it and how's the framerate etc

Definitely a lot better than Switch. Obviously it all depends on the game - lots run at a locked 60 but with others I drop it down to 40 or 30 - though I've been very surprised with some. Currently I'm playing Doom Eternal and Ori and the Blind Forest and they both run on high settings at 60 fps, and I recently played through Days Gone and Uncharted 4 and both of those ran at a smooth 40 for the most part, though I did drop some settings a bit and used FSR but they still look and play great. With 2D games they pretty much always run at 60 on high, like Hades, Dead Cells, Grim Dawn, and even D2R. With emulators, everything up to GC/PS2 runs fantastic and I've even gotten some Switch games like Metroid Dread running great too. I don't think I've used my Switch at all since I got the Deck, though I did preorder the new Zelda game because I found a great deal on it ($40, and given that it's an unreleased $70 Nintendo game I'm pretty happy with that).
I even bought some nReal Air glasses recently which are basically AR glasses with a fixed virtual screen that looks like a ~130" screen projected roughly 8' away and it works perfectly with the Deck. It's great for when my partner is watching TV that I don't care about but I still want to sit next to her, or when we're laying in bed and she's scrolling Instagram. Not only is the screen huge, but I also don't have to hold the Deck up to see its screen so I can hold it just like a regular controller - which is much better on my wrists. If I use it for much more than 90 minutes it gets a bit uncomfortable, but I usually only have 20 - 40 minutes at a time for gaming so it works perfectly for that.

So that's easily $1000 I've spent on this little thing but I can afford it and I use it so why the hell not!
