There is actually no health, it is JUST the special bar. So how it works is


-you gain special from hitting other players
-you loose special from taking hits including obstacles/traps on the levels.
-each character has 3 levels of special. Stage 1 is an easy to avoid move, stage 2 is a range that can get more than 1 kill. Stage 3 results in craziness that is awsome.



So you can only kill people from gathering special. it makes sense when you think about it. For a fighter game to work, going on offense has to be slightly more rewarding than defense (otherwise players would abuse defense).

It works well and previews say it is a good system. There is life in the sense that your special bar is your life. When you take hits, your special drops and you need special to kill people

ico and sotc are the only ps3 exclusives i hated so far. alnost mgs4 also but the more i play it the closer it gets to being my favorite
