I bought it and it was fun for a while but idk, I personally got bored of it after about three weeks. Try it out as it's free now.

I played when it released and let me tell you, it was buggy as hell.
Not sure how it is now, but seeing as it's f2p I would bet not many play :/

True and they really fixed a lot of bugs and combo skipping finally, before I retired from this game.
While the game got f2p the servers were quite populated, but I'm not sure how it is now...

Ah yeah, I really liked the Khitai (Rise of the godslayer expansion) dungeons, but in the end it was just too repetitive farming them over and over again.
I had nearly every Khitai epic equipment for my conqueror in the end, including T4 set.

Anyway my rating for this game:

Graphics 9/10
Animation (including Fatalities) 9.5/10
PvE Gameplay 6.5/10
PvP 4/10
Population 5/10 (played mostly on PvE server, PvP servers were less populated as I was on Asgard)
Variety (dungeons, etc at lvl 80) 6/10

/e played it in total for 1~2 years.

Is it at all comparable to d2?

D2 is a fast action hack and slash RPG and AoC is a mmorpg quite similar to WoW.
I think, you can't really compare them.
Both games are dying in my eyes, D2 because of the coming of D3 and it's a total bot hive. Age of conan is slowly loosing faith from their community, due the merges and bugs.
Anyway, I'd just download it and judge it for yourself. You're able to play it for free from level 1-80 with restricted classes, though.


/e If you're looking for a free fast action hack and slash game, I'd try Vindictus instead.

Oh, theres alot of bugs and such?

Well, it still have some minor bugs in it, like for example invisible mounts after you change areas etc...
The first year of age of conan it was unbearable to play with all the bugs and crashes but it should be quite fine now.
