I think I might have been vague when I said not that bad. We don’t need him rn. We will need him for ecf. I think we can handle sixers and raptors w/o him. assuming we go against bucks we will need him.

Tell me about kemba

That makes more sense. They are both needed, obv.

112.0 offensive rating without Kemba Walker on the court. 20+ games after start of Jan.

Prior to that, the Celtics had a 99.7 offensive rating without Walker. That would rank dead last by a mile and a half.

old tweet but it's hard to say since G got hurt in Nov, so that hurt the offensive rating. And Tatum didn't ball out until mid Feb.

The team had no problems scoring w/o Walker once JT took off and G regained form....he is way more of a luxury than G atm.

Just check how poor Kemba was after Jan and the offense still didn't suffer overall...

That's pretty sick. Kemba is essential to our offense, because he plays off-ball so well, and is okay with taking a back seat, something Kyrie refused to do during his time here. (Which is funny, because KD is also going to demand shots too.)

That was a tweet by Jay King months ago

Yes, Kemba and G fit perfectly because both don't care at all about sacrificing their own for the jay bros. They know who the stars are.

But Ill always choose Hayward over Kemba because he does a little bit of everything and can still get his 20 any night. He is a the perfect coaches pet.

At least he isn't like Chandler Parsons...

Or even worse Evan Turner, (love you ET, go get that $$$$,) or Knicks paying Noah's contract?

Yes the first two years were a wash, but Hayward's been a defining force in our bench/starting line up.

He's the quintessential multi-talented/multi facet wing you can use in any time --- he really embellishes making his teammates great without needing the success solely on him.

But let's break the numbers down.

Because I don't get your Hayward hate lol.

He's clearly one of our best players.

According to NBA.com, out of our top four scorers Hayward had the lowest percentage of his shots come from open looks (nearest defender 4-6 feet). Tatum, Walker, and Brown all got more open looks than Gordon, yet Hayward had the second highest shooting percentage of the four in this scenario. Only Tatum shot better.

Here are the stats for open looks. https://stats.nba.com/players/shots-closest-defender-10/?Season=2019-20&SeasonType=Regular%20Season&TeamID=1610612738&CloseDefDistRange=4-6%20Feet%20-%20Open&sort=FGA_FREQUENCY&dir=1

Gordon had far and away the best shooting percentage of the four in tight looks (defender within 2-4 feet) , as he was the only one of the four to shoot greater than 34% and Hayward shot 46%.

If he could stay healthy and wasn't still dealing with soreness and nerve issues from his 2018 foot injury, I'd argue that he should have a far larger role in the offense.

Side note: In terms of basic counting stats this season (points + rebounds + assists + steals + blocks - missed shots - turnovers), Tatum was our clear top performer this season (22.65), but Hayward was 2nd (20.32) followed by Jaylen (19.12) and then Kemba (18.64). Of course, Hayward played the least amount of games due to his frequent injuries.

Guess I just hate that he’s been injured more than playing lol. Like I said it’s not his fault but it is what it is. I never thought he was worth his contract even when we signed him. That’s the kind of money you pay superstars but nowadays average players are getting paid the same. Numbers are great and everything but he hasn’t gotten us anywhere lol

Nah, I feel you man. I used to be very upset 2nd year, but I mean, I'm at least happy he came back man. After that injury, I figured he was pretty much done for a good 2-3 year rehab.

That being said, we pretty much gave Horford the same amount of money. Is he a superstar? I'd say he is more like a Draymond/elite role player kind of guy.

And I'd rather take Walker/Hayward over Harris/Horford any day.

If we make it to the Finals, I'd wager some of that success should be attributed to Hayward too. If we win the chip, I'd say Hayward's contract was worth it imo, and that increases the likelihood that he'd re-sign with us for a discount.
