I have this same problem... I can run Warhammer online, shaiya, perfect world, world of warcraft but not age of conan?
I use a laptop... no way to replace graphic card?

It's all about what DirectX and Shader version your game needs, if your card lacks those, then you can't even start it, whether it's old or new game is irrelevant.
Memory amount just helps you to run it more smoothly, unless if you have some really old card that doesn't have much memory to begin with.
