I understand under the current rule also, but I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't looked at and Changed in the future. Pettey pretty much stopped playing when it happened. The safety of the player should ALWAYS be precedent over the game itself and it's a shame 9 players had to continue to play around a player bleeding out of his head laying on the ice.
Also the bolded statement is sad in itself and if I heard that, I wouldnt want to play a game for any of these owners.
I agree with you 100%.
Health and safety should come first. Petey did not even want to play anymore after seeing what happened first hand.... Play should be blown dead because in a situation like that the injury could be amplified if there is no immediate attention.
Sadly the bolded text is the prevalent attitude of ownership and the league imo. Health and safety for the players is only a priority because if ownership and the league was seen as so callous few would want to support the league.
It makes me uncomfortable too but you know when the refs make a bad call ownership is thinking about the potential financial loss, while the fans are just mad their team lost the game or disgusted that an injured player was not helped earlier (as seen in this incident).
