Ep40 had a great shift leading up to his goal. I would of been totally fine with leivo getting it. But eh another point for EP is a bonus.

yeah drafts this decade have had good pickings throughout the 1st round for the most part, but there's just no way to outdraft a Matthews/Laine or a McDavid/Eichel. some luck is good too

i get what you're trying to say, but it goes both ways and not every year is crazy like matthews/laine & mcdavid/eichel, could be like yakupov/johnson/rnh/ekblad (bust or weak for a lottery pick)

It's early, but i think it's safe to say that the canucks outdrafted the 2017 lottery by picking petey over heischer/patrick.

Also being compared to proven superstars in their first few NHL games is promising too.

First 26 NHL games goal & point totals:
Elias Pettersson - (15) 30
Evgeni Malkin - (15) 30
Alex Ovechkin - (16) 29
Sidney Crosby - (12) 28
Connor McDavid - (10) 28
Patrick Kane - (7) 27
Patrik Laine - (15) 21
Johnny Gaudreau - (5) 20
Auston Matthews - (12) 20

basically, i think the canucks have a higher chance of finding gems and drafting players like (point, kucherov, gaudreau, rantanen, marner, wheeler, pasty) than winning the damn lottery :(

and if by slim chance the canucks ever win the lottery, i wouldn't be surprised if the lottery player is a bust like yakupov/stefan or weakkkk like johnson/dipietro/philips cos cursed af!!!

haha my grandpa was trying to tell me petterson is no good because hes not in the top of the scoreleaders in the league. i then tried to tell him he was also hurt for a couple weeks and missed a lot of games but he said that doesnt matter because he has the highest time on the ice and that with so much ice time he has to get as many points as he had or he is awful. but i looked it up and he doesnt seem to be anywhere near close to top ice time players.

this really shows how good he is even without having to see him play

^ he's also doing this playing with plugs most of the time AND having to adjust to NHL rink size AND having to learn how to faceoff/play centre after being a winger.
I bet Laine would'nt have the success he had in his 1st season if he played center.
