I was bored messing around with the damage calculator and I was wondering what is the damage needed on a min/max jewel to out damage a 24 max jewel?

I compared my gear with 9min/9 max jewels vs 24 max jewels and the damage was highly tilted towards the 24 maxers. It was 1700 average damage for the 24 maxers vs 1400 average damage 9min/9 max jewels.

Do you basically have to find 11+ min/11+ max to out damage 24 max jewels?

Just curious/bored.

add min/max together to get its equivalent in max damage

ideal min/max is 8-18

So on the damage calculator that I was using, i was putting min damage= 9, max damage= 9.

But actually it should be 9 min damage- 18 max damage?

If I'm understanding it correctly.

or do you mean 9min/9 max= 18 max damage?

insane rares can do more damage than 24s. when it comes to 8-15 magical vs 24, the actual difference in average dmg is so low you'd never notice it. what you will notice however in the actual duel is consistency vs massive max hits.
min-max provides less "wasted" dmg (ie rolling a max/crit when the player has 50 life left is wasted dmg).

I would prefer plain 8-15's over 24's, but if you can get godly ones like 8-18, 12-18, or min-max/xx nice mods, then there isn't even a contest :P

jw why you would enter the data as 9 min 9 max? when the jewel says 8 min, 15 max on it... why would ya enter 9-9 lol

hrm well i never said i had a 8-15 jewel, i had a couple 9min-9max jewels and was entering them into the damage calculator to see how they compare to 24 max jewels.

But yea what you said about the wasted damage thing is pretty interesting, i might have to consider a min/max zealer over a max zealer (if i can find all the jewels)

it doesn't matter wether you add min or max to your build under normal conditions.
its the total amount of damage that will increase your avarage damage. (like said before)

Rare min/max damage jewels could have a higher total damage than 24. What the exact maximum is I'm not to sure about.

Usualy people prefere max damage over a same increase in min/max damage because it increases the chanse of getting high-end critical hits, hits like that are more effective if you take MDR bug into account. And some builds are able to kill a char in one or a few hits.
And even when your build is conciderably less effective than your opponent you could still kill it with a punchers chanse (getting those high critical hits)

There is only one type of build where min damage could add conciderably more to your avarage damage than the same amount of min+max and thats a pure min damage build. Once you get more min damage than total max damage your max damage will also increase with just min damage added. making the min damage added double as effective. But those builds are quite rare, hard to make and insanely expensive.
