it's like a mix of 3 Gatsu no Lion (because Shogi) and Ro-Kyu-Bu/Tenshi no 3P!
Tbh i had to check and see if the author/creator was the same as this kind of show really seemed along that same lines as RoKyuBu and Tenshi no 3P, to my surprise it was a different author.

in fact i think a purely dramatic/intense shogi anime might be badass

pretty sure there's been other Shogi anime lately too.
ever since the first season of 3 Gatsu no Lion they've been popping up.
not many but i believe there were a few of them.
