This was a glitch that made it possible to mute anything when he first released the new patch.

I'll add a 'Theories' section when we know more about it. I wanted too get the main part out too stop alot of the questions that were being asked

It is because when the patch was released there was a bug that if you aborted the mute you would still get the essence for it.
