Two so far today, both of which I’ve been putting off seeing forever:
The Last of the Mohicans
Solid acting and overall I felt like the film did a good job depicting the historical context of the French Indian War. Made me interested in reading about those early conflicts more and some of the best scenes had nothing to do with Lewis’ character. The music and score made me want to throw up though.
Inherent Vice
This one was fucking sense. Great acting by Joaquin. Overall his role in The Master may be better but he was truly a great protagonist in this one. Brolin was also great here, kind of reminds me of his role in Milk. In a way he’s perfect at depicting that kind of authoritarian, clean-cut character with depth.
The funniest of Anderson’s movies by a lot without losing the beauty of his scenes and serious depth in every minute. Inspired me to check out the novel and view the movie again a few times. I regret not seeing it in theaters but it was in and out.
