i enjoyed it but anything ewan mcgregor gets my vote anyways.

i feel like it did a good job tying the past to the present but the new characters werent fleshed out too well.

I can get on board with that critique. I'm the same way, he's such a talented and likeable guy, that it's hard for me to dislike anything with him in a leading or major supporting role.

I enjoyed this immensely. One of the better war films I've seen in ages and I was sucked in from beginning to end.

The new terminator ....

Was bored and figured, why not. When it first started, I was like ‘ok Damn. This is pretty good’ then at the half way point ‘not bad. So much better than expected. GG’ ........ and then they introduced Arnold and it all went to absolute shit and the movie was ruined. The plot just took a huge turd on the entire movie and it went downhill fast. Plus I don’t understand the timeline of Arnold vs John Connor and why he killed him

I watched Men in Black 1&2. I was surprised how dated it felt. I didn't realize how long it had been since 1997. Any younger person watching them for the first time today is going to be scratching their head at why they performed so well.

Then watched The Departed. There are a ton of great performances by talented actors, but I thought that it relied on glamorization of law enforcement + mafia culture too much. For someone (like me) who isn't enthralled by either type of culture, I found the story to be thematically lacking. The characters were shallow stereotypes for the most part.

The story could have been sold as a mystery if it had included just 1 more twist. For example, the psychiatrist could have ended up being an FBI informant.

It was okay. But I think a real lawyer would have done better in that situation. But they gotta sell a movie.
