I wrote a lottery page. This is a trial to see how things go.

Here's how it works:
Every hour it picks 3 numbers. If those 3 match any tickets purchased in that last hour, then that winner gets the pot.

Every ticket purchased, a portion of the ticket price goes into the pot, until someone wins the pot, then it is reset back to 1,000 FG.

If more than one person wins, the winnings will go to the first person that bought the ticket (I will update the code to split it, if necessary).

Post comments/feedback/suggestions here please.

I don't want to turn this into a gambling site, however.

[edit]There seems to be a lot of confusion on some of the finer points, so here goes:
- The odds of winning with one ticket purchased are 1 in 13,800 (Formula is 25*24*23 - Go ask a mathematician, don't post your crap 2nd grade math theories here)
- The order of your numbers matters. If you pick 1 2 3, and the server picks 3 2 1, that is not a match. See above for the odds related to Ordered numbers. For reference, unordered is divided by 6 for the above value.
- You can now pre-purchase tickets into the future. Use the Buy This Ticket For the Next XXX Raffle(s) section to go into the future with a ticket. Eg, put it to 2 to buy for this raffle, and the next. 3 to buy for this raffle and two into the future, etc.

Will add to this list as needed.

I think its a good idea cause it can help us when we need it. But this really depends on how much each ticket is.

If you don't want to turn this into a gambling site, I say maybe you
should up the price of a ticket and make it every 5-10 hours, not every
3.
