After searching for specific information on
Latent Sunders,
Worldstone Shards and
Bind demons I want to share my newest information on the Herald mechanic. Kudos to
, who already posted several of this information in my other post. This gave me motivation to dive deeper into the data. But I am still not finished.
1. The full Herald system is only enabled in ROTW Hell.ROTW Hell is the only place where Herald progression is actually turned on.
2. It works in both Ladder and Non-Ladder.Both modes have the Herald system activated.
3. Chances to raise a herald are quite lowChance to get a token: 2.0 (probably a 2% chance to convert a qualified monster into a token)
Chance to convert a token into a herald: 1.0 (probably a 1% chance to convert a token into a herald)
4. There’s a token-based progression layer with a hard cap of 5.
max_herald_tokens is defined as 5. As you have the chance to generate a new token before you converted a token into a herald, you can have more than 1 open token at a time. Which can lead to more than 1 herald spawning at a short time.
5. Heralds have 5 tiers (Tier 1–5)The file defines 5 different herald_tiers and sets max_herald_tiers: 5.
6. Tier increases dramatically boost Herald and minion power. Each tier specifies:
a. Herald HP and damage boosts
- HP: Tier 0: 1000% = x10, Tier 5: 3000% = x30
- Damage: Tier 0: 50% , Tier 5: 250%
b. Minion HP and damage boosts
- HP: Tier 0: 250%, Tier 5: 750%
. Damage: Tier 0: 10% , Tier 5: 50%
c. Fixed amount of minions (Tier 0: 6, Tier 5:14)
7. Higher tiers increase drop “power” via Treasure Class level boosts.
Starting at tier 2, Treasure class bonus scales up (+3 / +6 / +9 / +12) for better drop tables.
8. Heralds always rolls a fixed number of monster mods—3 or 4 depending on tier.
- Tier 1–2: 3 mods
- Tier 3–5: 4 mods
9. There are two mod-related layers: a weighted pool + an aura. There is a weighted table of 9 classic mods (Strong/Fast/Fire/Cold/etc.). Its weights sum to 90, which suggests a ~10% "no pick".
Independently, the herald always gets an aura (id = 30).
10. There is a timing mechanism for time delay in "warnings"For tier2 the announce_time_in_minutes is 3, whereas for tier3 it is 2, for tier4 it is 1 and for tier1 it is 0 minutes.
